Secretary - Colonel Clegg

Colonel was born July 3, 1928. He graduated from Columbus North High School 1946, then attended OSU, graduating in 1952.  Colonel was a member of the OSU Varsity Fencing Team for 3 years, serving as team captain his Sr. year.  He worked for Midland Mutual Life Insurance Co. for 36 years, retiring in 1993.  His wife Betty, 3 children (2 boys & 1 girl) and 5 granddaughters round out the immediate family.  Hobbies include model airplanes, wood-working, camping, fishing, bowling, and other sports—but not golf.  He is a member of the Worthington Christian Church, and has taught Sunday School to grade school kids thru senior adults for over 30 years.  Colonel has been a member of WMAA since 1989, and claims that some day he’ll get it all right.
Ed. Note: I think he’s succeeded.  Thoroughly enjoys his retirement.

Treasurer - Tom Rau

Tom has been a club member since 2003. He has been flying full size planes for over 30 years, but readily admits that that skill doesn't help a bit when learning to fly RC.

Tom is a graduate engineer from the University of Michigan.  He was a Research Engineer and Manufacturing Supervisor for Whirlpool in St. Joe, Michigan and Marion, Ohio.  More recently, he was Plant Manager at Liebert Corporation In Worthington and Delaware, Ohio.  He is now a retired bum.

Tom is a Veteran of the Air Force.  He was a crew chief on the F-106 fighter interceptor at Selfridge AFB.

Newsletter Editor - Don Fellenz

I took early retirement in 1997 from Pfizer Specialty Chemicals Group, a year after this business unit was sold to a Finnish company. I started in Technical Service in Brooklyn, and after earning an MBA in my off-hours, transferred to Marketing in New York.  A few years later, I found my home in International Business Development, and finished my career with postings in Sydney, Australia and Singapore. Diane (41 years married and counting) and I found our two years living overseas to be most interesting, educational, and enjoyable. Old dogs can learn new tricks.

Returning to the hobby I enjoyed as a youngster (scratch– and kit-built FF & UC/CL), I joined WMAA early 2000. Stuck in time, pre-1950’s aircraft are my primary interest. Other major activities/interests include woodworking (there is always some WIP) and photography.

Diane and I play duplicate bridge (friendly only), are CATCO, CAPA, and CSO subscribers, and enjoy traveling in North America & Europe. Two kids, their spouses, and six grandkids round out our immediate family. Work was good; retirement is better.

After living on the equator, in both hemispheres, and in three countries (including several US locations), Columbus seemed the ideal place for us to settle down and unwind. We couldn’t have made a better choice.

Thanks to Don Fellenz for pictures of the Club Officers.
